The St. Louis Cardinals have signed first baseman Mark Reynolds to a contract.

Reynolds, 31, has always been long on power but has often had trouble making contact and getting on base. He is coming off a season in which he hit jut .196/.287/.394 for the Brewers. Reynolds did have 22 home runs and 45 RBI across his 130 games.

Over his eight year career Reynolds has hit an average of 32 home runs over the 162 game season. He is being looked at as depth off the Cardinals bench right now but it would not be a surprise to see him get regular playing time at fist base or the outfield if he gets hot at the plate.

Matt Adams is currently locked into the Cardinals job at first base.
