The Dodgers and infielder Darwin Barney have avoided arbitration agreeing to a one-year deal worth $2.525 million.

Acquired from the Cubs at the trade deadline, Barney can be a useful middle of the infield piece. He won a Gold Glove in 2012.

The 29-year-old should have no trouble finding the field for the Dodgers in 2015 but his bat offers little. He hit just .241/.300/.342 in 237 at bats last year.

Blue Jays non-tender Justin Smoak

The Blue Jays will move on from Justin Smoak. After picking him off of waivers from the Mariners earlier this offseason there was thought that the Blue Jays would try to work out a new deal with Smoak. Instead that did not happen and the 27-year-old will be looking for yet another home.

Once a top prospect of the Rangers, Smoak stumbled to a .202/.275/.339 line with seven homers and 30 RBI over 80 games in 2014.

He will be looking at a variety of minor league and incentive laden deals.
