The Rangers have non-tended right hander Alexi Ogando.
This is a bit of a surprise as comments by general manager Jon Daniels recently implied that the Rangers would tender Ogando a contract as the 31-year-old has proven to be useful as a starter or reliever when healthy.
Ogando was limited to just 27 relief apperances in 2014 which ended after inflammation and ligament wear and tear was found in his right elbow. He finished the year with a 6.84 ERA and a 1.92 WHIP.
Back in 2013 he posted a 3.11 ERA and a 1.23 WHIP across 23 games which included 18 starts. Whether or not the Rangers will make a bid to bring him back at a lesser deal or simply allow him to walk remains to be seen.
Ogando appears to be another one of a series of buy low candidates this winter. That list also includes former Braves pitchers Kris Medlen and Brandon Beachy.
