Martin spent the last two seasons with the Pittsburgh Pirates and while they would have linked to of re-signed him they have already made plans for next season in the form of Francisco Cervelli in a trade with the New York Yankees.
Executives involved in bidding for Russell Martin believe #Cubs are clear front-runner. Deal expected to be in four-year, $64M range.

Considered the best available catcher on the market, the 31-year-old Martin is expected to get a four year deal which could play him upwards of $15 million a season.
If the Cubs are really interested in Martin the biggest question becomes what they do with with Welington Castillo.
Will they keep him or use him as a trade chip to upgrade their numerous other holes?
