Pirates acquire catcher Francisco Cervelli in trade with Yankees

The Pirates must not feel confident about their ability to re-sign free agent catcher Russell Martin.

On Wednesday evening they acquired catcher Francisco Cervelli from the Yankees for left handed pitcher Justin Wilson.

With the Yankees Cervelli was clearly second at catcher behind Brian McCann. Upon arriving in Pittsburgh he becomes the favorite to start come opening day. Across 146 at-bats last season he hit .301/.370/.432 with two home runs and 13 RBI>

In Wilson the Yankees get a 27-year-old left hander who appeared in 70 games out of the bullpen last season posting a 4.20 ERA and a 1.32 WHIP.
