Braves trying to unload Evan Gattis

Many have believed that the Atlanta Braves would attempt to trade Evan Gattis this offseason.

According to Joel Sherman of the New York Post that is the case.

Gattis, 28, hit 22 home runs and produced a .810 OPS in 108 games this past season but the Braves do not have a position for the slugger who is better suited for the role of a DH on an American League club.

The Braves have used Gattis at catcher and left field over the last two seasons. As good as Gattis has been at the plate it remains unclear what the Braves could get for a player who contributes nothing on defense.

Aoki wants three-year deal

Free agent outfielder Norichika Aoki is seeking a three-year contract this offseason.

Coming off a season in which he hit .285/.349/.360 in 132 games the 32-year-old is known to have interest from the Royals and White Sox. One thing that may make him a more viable option for big league clubs is that he is not tied to draft pick compensation.
