Despite his sixth blown save of the season on Saturday the Detroit Tigers do not plan to remove Joe Nathan from the closer role.

Speaking following the Tigers loss to Toronto on Saturday, manager Brad Ausmus said there were no plans to remove Ausmus from the closer role.

Nathan allowed two hits, two walks and a run in 1/3 innings of work while blowing the save.

Should the Tigers move away from Nathan the most logical option may be Joba Chamberlain. Recently acquired Joakim Soria suffered an injury in Saturday’s contest.

On the season the 39-year-old Nathan has a 5.36 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and 24 saves.
