Brian McCann lands on DL, Matt Harvey throws off mound

brianmccannUPDATE: The New York Yankees have placed catcher Brian McCann on the seven day concussion disabled list.

Brian McCann will visit a neurologist to determine the severity of a concussion.

The catcher left Friday’s game against Cleveland with symptoms. It is unclear when he first experienced the concussion but he did take a foul ball off the mask in the third inning of Friday’s game before leaving in the sixth.

Should McCann go to the disabled list the Yankees are expected to recall Austin Romine from Trople-A to take his roster spot. More than likely McCann will at-least hit the seven-day concussion DL.

McCann is hitting .238 with 13 homers and 49 RBIs in his first season with the Yankees.

Matt Harvey throws

New York Mets pitcher Matt Havey will not contribute to the team this season but the right hander continues to rehab.

On Saturday morning the 25-year-old threw 29 pitches off the mound. While Harvey initially expressed interest in trying to return this year the Mets were able to convince him to start anew next year.

Right now he seems well on the way to being ready for spring training.
