Cliff Lee will not need surgery on his left elbow.

The Philadelphia Phillies remain hopeful that the 35-year-old Lee will be ready for the start of spring training.

He received a platelet-rich plasma injection in his left elbow and will be re-evaluated in two weeks reports Phillies writer Todd Zolecki.

“We hope to get him into a throwing program in October or November,” Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. said. “But right now he needs to rest.” The Phillies are hopeful Lee will be ready by spring training next year.

Lee is owed at least $37.5 million following this season, which includes his $25 million salary for 2015, plus a $12.5 million buyout on a 2016 club option.

The 2013 season of Lee ends with a 3.65 ERA and a 1.38 WHIP in 13 starts.
