Outfielder Tyler Colvin has been sent to Triple-A Fresno by the San Francisco Giants.

Colvin, 28, is hitting just .223/.268/.381 this season with two home runs and 18 RBI.

The Giants could choose to recall Colvin later but right now he is simply not an option in their outfield plans.

Colvin’s demotion comes at the same time that the Giants had been rumored to be severing ties with veteran infielder Dan Uggla who played in four games. During his time Uggla was 0-for-11 with six strikeouts while committing three errors. For now Uggla remains with the Giants but his status going forward is in question.

The Giants needed roster places for the returning Angel Pgan, Brandon Belt and Hector Sanchez.
