Evan Gattis will begin his minor league rehab assignment on Thursday.
The date for Gattis to start his rehab had been up in the air but now the catcher will report to Triple-A Gwinnett on Thursday. He is expected to play a few games before being activated as soon as Monday.
Gattis has been out of action with a bulging disc in his upper back since the end of June. Recently he has been taking batting practice with Low-A Rome.
Prior to going on the disabled list the 27-year-old Gattis was hitting a robust .290/.342/.558 with 16 home runs and 39 RBI.
