Scott Diamond has signed a minor league contract with the Cincinnati Reds.

Diamond, 27, will be assigned to Triple-A Louisville. The left hander was released by the Minnesota Twins last weekend after struggling at Triple-A Rochester posting a 6.52 ERA and a 1.63 WHIP in 80 innings of work.

The Reds are simply using the former undrafted free agent as rotation depth for their minor league system. Diamond is said to have had a few different offers.

In 58 major league games Diamond is 19-27 with a 4.43 ERA and a 1.41 WHIP. His best season came in 2012 when he was 12-9 with a 3.54 ERA in 27 starts. He did not pitch for the Twins at the major league level this season.
