Marlins designate Wolf and Slowey for assignment among slue of Monday moves

On Monday the Miami Marlins designated pitchers Kevin Slowey and Randy Wolfe for assignment.

Signed after the Marlins lost Jose Fernandez for the season, Wolf allowed five runs in four innings of work on Saturday dropping to 1-3 with a 5.26 ERA and a 1.52 WHIP in 25 2/3 innings of work.

Slowey, 30, made two starts and 15 relief appearances for the Marlins posting a 5.30 ERA and a 1.66 WHIP.

To take their place the Marlins called up left handed Andrew Heaney from Triple-A New Orleans. Heaney had a cool 2.47 ERA, 1.096 WHIP, and 79/15 K/BB ratio in 76 2/3 innings this season between Double-A Jacksonville and Triple-A New Orleans and has been labeled a first of the rotation starter.

Anthony DeSclafani will make the trip to the majors with him. DeSclafani will get an extended look in the Marlins rotation. He previously made two starts earlier this season going 1-1 witha 5.56 ERA and a 1.32 WHIP.

The Marlins also made some moves which will affect their everyday lineup.

Outfielder Jake Marisnick has been recalled from New Orleans. He will replace Christian Yelich who went to the disabled list with a lower back strain.

Marisnick, 23, was batting .264/.306/.404 with six home runs and 17 stolen bases in 67 games this season at the Triple-A level.

The Marlins also recalled Justin Bour. The 26-year-old first baseman was hitting .330/.404/.580 with 11 home runs and 41 RBI in 57 minor league games this season.

Donovan Solano was sent to New Orleans to clear the additional roster spot. The 26-year old was hitting just .196/.226/.255 in 35 games.

Additionally catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia was transferred from the seven day disabled list to the 15-day disabled list.
