Nationals to rotate Ryan Zimmerman between 1B, 3B and LF

When Ryan Zimmerman returns from the disabled list he will began to rotate around the field. Zimmerman will see action at his usual position of third base in addition to see time at first base and left field reports CBS Sports‘ Jon Heyman.

Zimmerman has been taking flyballs in left field for a while now but it was unclear until now whether or not he would see game action there.

Originally Zimmerman went on the DL with a thumb injury but his bothersome arm has again reeled its ugly head. The Nationals are curious as to whether or not the limiting of his plays at third base allows him to become a bigger offensive threat.

The Nationals are still a few weeks away from seeing Zimmerman in any capacity. Choosing to move him around would allow the team to keep both Anhony Rendon and Danny Espinoza in the daily lineup.

Zimmerman has already missed 40 games this season and he should miss a few more. A season ago he hit .275/.344/.465 with 26 home runs and 84 runs scored.
