Injury woes continue for the Texas Rangers with Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reporting that slugging first baseman Prince Fielder could choose to undergo neck surgery and miss the rest of the season.

Over the weekend Fielder received a nerve-root injection but he was still feeling discomfort. Fielder met with Dr. Drew Dossett of the Carrell Clinic in Dallas rather than join the Rangers on their trip to Detroit.

Currently Fielder has a .247/.360/.360 line with three home runs and 16 RBI in 42 games.

In the offseason the Rangers acquired Fielder from the Tigers for Ian Kinsler. Fielder has six years remaining on his contract after this season. Kinsler has three, plus a 2018 club option.

Mitch Moreland is filling in at first base for the Rangers.
