The Oakland Athletics have claimed left handed pitcher Jeff Francis off waivers from the Cincinnati Reds.
Francis had pitched well at Triple-A Louisville before earning a spot start last week. He went five innings allowing three runs before the Reds attempted to send him back to Louisville. Instead the A’s claimed him.
Joe Savey was placed on paternity leave by the A’s opening a spot in their bullpen for Francis. How long he sticks around will be determined by how wellhead pitches.
