New York Mets closer Bobby Parnell will undergo Tommy John surgery on Tuesday.
While the news is not a surprise, it still comes as a tough blow to the Mets who now are going with Jose Valverde as their closer.
Parnell will undergo surgery on Tue. @ the Hospital for Special Surgery. Mets Medical Director Dr. David Altchek will perform the procedure.

There had been some hope that Parnell would take a few weeks off and return but that will no be the case. Surgery for Parnell will be performed by Mets medical director Dr. David Altchek on Tuesday.
Parnell pitched in 49 games last season posting a 2.16 ERA with a 3.67 K/BB while saving 22 games.
