Yankees: Brendan Ryan to miss Opening Day

The New York Yankees will not have Brendan Ryan on their roster when the regular season gets underway.

Ryan, 31, underwent an MRI which revealed that something was pushing on a nerve in his back. He had been dealing with oblique and back issues all spring.

Without Ryan on the roster the Yankees will have to go with Eduardo Nunez  as the backup to Derek Jeter.

Ryan appeared in 104 games last esaon hitting .197/.255/.273 with four home runs and 30 runs scored for the Yankees.
