Red Sox nearing extension with David Ortiz

We are nearing the point where we no longer have to hear about “contract talks” between the Boston Red Sox and designated hitter David Ortiz.

Ortiz, 38, has been trying to get an extension beyond the 2014 season. With the regular season just around the corner there appears to be a resolution between the Red Sox and their most recognizable player according to CSN.

The Red Sox and Ortiz are believed to be close to agreeing on a one-year extension for 2015 worth $15 million. Ortiz will earn roughly that amount this season after signing a two-year extension during the winter of 2012.

Ortiz finished the 2013 season hitting .309/.395/.564 with 30 home runs and 103 RBI across 137 games.
