Kyle Farnsworth’s days of being a shutdown relief pitcher are gone. Now the 37-year-old may not even crack the roster of the New York Mets this season.
Farnsworth spent last season with the Tampa Bay Rays and Pittsburgh Pirates posting a 4.70 ERA and a 1.38 WHIP across 38 1/3 innings of work.
Signed to a minor league deal in February, Farnsworth has been “sitting mainly at 87-89 miles per hour, and team insiders have indicated that Farnsworth is probably not long for the Mets” according to Andy Martino of the New York Daily News.
