The Texas Rangers have signed left handed pitcher Joe Saunders to a one-year contract.
Saunders, 32, will be guaranteed $500,000 under the terms of his new contract and can make $1.5 million plus incentives if he makes the team.
The Rangers are bringing in Saunders to compete against Alexi Ogando, Colby Lewis, Tommy Hanson and Nick Tepesch for the final two spots in their starting rotation. By mid-season the Rangers are expecting to have Derek Holland back.

Saunders made 32 starts last season for the Seattle Mariners finishing with a 11-16 record, 5.26 ERA and a 1.60 WHIP. If nothing else Saunders gives the Rangers additional depth.
