Boston Red Sox pitcher Jake Peavy was scratched from his scheduled spring training start this weekend after he cut his finger on a fishing knife. Right now Peavy’s finger is wrapped in gauze to prevent infection.
The 32-year-old Peavy is scheduled to play catch on Tuesday.
Peavy said he suffered the injury cutting wire off a new piece of fishing equipment so he could take his 5-year-old son fishing.

Ideally Peavy will be ready to start the season in the Red Sox rotation where he will join Jon Lester, John Lackey and Clay Buchholz.
Peavy made 23 starts last season compiling a 12-5 record, 4.17 ERA and a 1.15 WHIP.
