Mark Teixeira weeks away from game action

Spring Training is underway but one player who will not be hitting the field is New York Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira.

Teixeira will be out until March 3 with his surgically repaired right wrist according to the New York Post.

It’s unclear when Teixeira will even be ready to swing at live batting practice, though he has been taking swings off a tee.

“Probably a week to 10 days,’’ said Teixeira.

It goes without saying, Teixeira is a player to avoid in fantasy baseball. Set to turn 34 in April he hit just .151/.270/.340 with three home runs and 12 RBI in 15 games last season. He will make roughly $22.5 million in each of the next three seasons.
