Russell Wilson ready to report to Spring Training with Rangers

Russell Wilson was selected by the Texas Rangers in the Rule 5 draft. He then went on to win the Super Bowl with the Seattle Seahawks.

Now the quarterback is back to baseball, as he tweeted out a photo and caption that said he would join the Rangers on March 3.

Prior to being a Super Bowl winning quarterback, Wilson toiled in the minor leagues in the Colorado Rockies system.

“At the end of the day, he obviously has a lot bigger things that he’s working on right now, and we don’t want to interrupt that aspect of it. But if at some point down the road he decides he wants to do baseball again, we decided it would be a positive to have him with us.” said assistant GM  A.J. Preller told The Star-Telegram in December.

The Rangers paid the Rockies $12,000 to select Wilson but they are hoping that having him as part of their organization will help teach some of their younger players about leadership.
