Johan Santana has begun throwing off a mound as he works his way back from a re=tar of his shoulder capsule.
It’s unclear when the 34-year-old left hander could be ready to pitch at any level. The belief had been that Santana was not an option for any team until after the All-Star break. If he’s already throwing off a mound his return would seem to be closer.

Thus far the Minnesota Twins have been linked the most to Santana with the New York Yankees also showing interest.
