Free agent outfielder Rick Ankiel is hopeful that he will be able to continue his MLB career.
Ankiel, 34, appeared on SiriusXM Fantasy Sports Radio and said he was still wanting to play but had not been contacted by anyone who shared that interest.
In 2013 Ankiel appeared in 45 games between the New York Mets and Houston Astros hitting .188/.235/.422 with seven home runs and 18 RBI. Ankiel could offer some pop off the bench but simply strikes out too much and does not get on base enough to get more than a minor league contract at this point.
Someone could take a chance on Ankiel.
