Ricky Romero facing uphill battle for Blue Jays rotation spot

rickyromero

The chances of Ricky Romero breaking Spring Training with the Toronto Blue Jays are not very good according to MLB.com writer Gregor Chisholm.

Chisholm points to the lack of conversation by general manager Alex Anthopoulos as his reasoning saying that Romero is rarely mentioned as a candidate for a rotation spot.

So who is being considered for the fifth spot in the rotation?

The early favourites for the fifth spot in the rotation appear to be either Esmil Rogers, Todd Redmond or Drew Hutchison, with Jeremy Jeffress, Dustin McGowan and No. 3 prospect Marcus Stroman possibly receiving consideration as well.

Right now it appears Romero is being ticketed for Triple-A Syracuse but he will have a chance to show his worth this spring.

Romero made four appearances in the majors lat season going 0-2 with a 11.05 ERA with a 2.59 WHIP.
