The Los Angeles Angels have signed infielder Ian Stewart to a minor league contract.
Stewart, 29, has struggled to produce at the big league level since his days as one of baseball’s top prospects. He last appeared at the big league level in 2012 with the Chicago Cubs. He was re-signed by the Cubs last season but was let go after making disparaging comments about the team.
In his career Stewart has a .232/.319/.417 career line with 59 home runs in 487 games spread across six seasons.
