Bobby Abreu had a largely productive time with the Philadelphia Phillies from 1998 through 2006. Now the team is considering the 39-year-old as an option off the bench.
CSN Philly noted that Abreu was among the left handed options that the Philles were considering.
“We’re looking at all the left-handed bats still out there and he’s one of them,” general manager Ruben Amaro told Jim Salisburry.
Any deal involving Abreu will be of the minor league variety. A strong season in winter ball has put him back on the radar of big league teams after he sat out the entire 2013 season.
