The Los Angeles Angels took a gamble trading for Tommy Hanson last season. On Monday the Angels made the decision to non-tender Hanson rather than bring him back for a second season.
Hanson struggled last season posting a 5.42 ERA and 1.55 WHIP over 73 innings of work in 2013 while dealing with injuries and family problems.
The Angels were not willing to give Hanson a raise over the $3.7 million he made last season but someone else should give the right hander a chance to fill out their rotation.
The Angels also non-tendered Chris Nelson who hit just .227/.273/.327 last season and right handed reliever J.C. Gutierrez who posted a 4.23 ERA in 55 1/3 innings of work.
