Dylan Axelrod spent much of the 2013 season in the rotation for the Chicago White Sox. He will not be on the roster in 2014.
The 28-year-old Axelrod had put up solid numbers in the minor leagues before posting a 5.68 ERA and 1.66 WHIP in 128 1/3 innings of work in 2013.
With the decision to non-tender Axelrod the White Sox will have an additional spot on their 40-man roster.
The White Sox also avoided arbitration with catcher Tyler Flowers agreeing to a one-year deal worth $950,000. He will serve as a back-up catcher to Josh Phegley this seaon after hitting just .195/.247/.355 in 2013.
There are still flashes of power in Flowers bat which the White Sox are hoping to see in 2014.
