Mets: Collins not committed to Hawkins as closer

LaTroy Hawkins has picked up a pair of saves this week but that hardly means he is the closer of the New York Meta.

Terry Collins indicated on Friday that he would consider options outside of Hawkins to close games for the Mets.

Hawkins still appears to be the ninth inning man for the Mets with Bobby Parnell sidelined but the Mets could explore other options as well.

David Aardsma would be the most likely name to push Hawkins out of the closers role.

Hawkins has a 2.86 ERA and a 1.27 WHIP in 51 games entering Friday.
