Carpenter is currently on the Cardinals’ 60-day disabled list recovering from back and shoulder ailments. He has missed the entire season recovering from injuries. He only made three starts in 2012.
Carpenter will start against the Oklahoma City RedHawks (Triple-A Astros) at AutoZone Park. It will be his second rehab start. His first was on Monday when he pitched 2.2 innings of work in a start for Double A Springfield. It was reported that he reached 94 MPH on the gun, but his command was poor.
It is expected that Carpenter will make multiple starts with Memphis and is likely to use the entirety of his 30-day rehab assignment before re-joining the Cardinals, as long as there are no setbacks.
