On paper David Price against a team of minor leaguers is a mismatch. That proved to be true on Wednesday night as the reigning AL Cy Young Award winner allowed two hits over five innings of work in his second rehab start with High-A Charlotte.

In the outing Price strike out eight while allowing just a walk.

Price last pitched at the major league level on May 15. The left hander is hoping to rejoin the Tampa Bay Rays soon.

“I guess whatever I did out there today is going to be my lobbying,” Price said of his chance to rejoin the Rays. “If that’s not enough, I guess I’ll have to throw another one.”

Price went on to say that his left triceps felt fine and he regularly hit between 92 and 94 on the radar gun.

When Price rejoins the Rays he will return to a 1-4 record and a 5.24 ERA.
