Orioles pitcher Dylan Bundy will undergo Tommy John surgery

Orioles pitcher Dylan Bundy will undergo season-ending Tommy John surgery. Bundy will have surgery on his elbow on Thursday which will keep him out of action until the 2014 season.

Bundy, 20, was the fourth overall pick in the 2011 draft. The Orioles had hoped he would be able to pitch for them at the big league level by season’s end, now that may not even happen next season.

In spring training Bundy began having elbow soreness, he has not pitched since.

Last season Bundy made his big league debut as a September call-up. Baseball America and MLB.com both ranked him as the No. 1 pitching prospect in baseball.
