Kris Medlen does not want to go to the bullpen

Kris Medlen does not want to head to the bullpen when Brandon Beachy comes off the disabled list. Medlen is the only member of the Braves rotation who has experience in the bullpen.

Many figured that the Braves would place Beachy in the rotation spot of Julio Teheran. That is far from certain with Teheran pitching better of late.

“I’ll let it be known that I don’t want to go down there (to the bullpen),” Medlen told the Atlanta Journal Constitution. “I don’t. At all. But it’s out of my hands. I mean, if it happens, obviously it happens. I’m a team player.”

Beachy has one more minor-league rehab start scheduled. He also has no relief experience.

Currently Medlen has a 2.87 ERA and a 1.29 WHIP. He is also on a pace to reach 200 innings up from the 151 1/3 innings he threw last season between Triple-A and Atlanta.
