Jake Peavy cleared to make next start

Jake Peavy was scratched from his start on Monday after experiencing discomfort in his back last week but is prepared to make a start on Wednesday.

Peavy was originally scheduled to start a game last Thursday when the White Sox moved his start back four days. On Monday the 31-year-old threw a bullpen session and was given a green light by the White Sox medical staff.

Last season was the first time Peavy made more then 20 starts in a season since the 2008 season.

This year Peavy has made five starts for the White Sox and owns a 3-1 record. Peavy has a solid 3.38 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 39/6 K/BB ratio on the season. His next start will come against the New York Mets.

Heading into Monday the Mets have averaged just 3.33 runs per game over their last twelve contests which bodes well for Peavy.
