The pitching situation on the south side of Chicago is becoming dire. Gavin Floyd is facing Tommy John surgery and Jake Peavy’s back is on the verge of landing him on the disabled list.
Peavy will miss his scheduled start against the Royals on Monday. Peavy was to start Thursday night but had his rotation turn bumped back a few days when the initial stiffness began.
In place of Peavy the White Sox will use either Chris Sale or Hector Santiago.
Last season was the first time Peavy had made more then 20 starts in a season since 2008. After five starts this season the right hander wads 3-1 with a 3.38 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP.
