The 2013 season will be Mariano Rivera’s last. Rivera, 43, will have a 10 am press conference on Saturday to make the official announcement according to Joel Sherman.

Rivera had indicated recently to Buster Olney that the 2012 season would have been his last if he had remained healthy.

Last season Rivera appeared in only nine games before suffering a right knee injury while shagging fly balls in Kansas City. Rivera is the all-time saves leader in baseball with 608.

Even as he has aged, Rivera has remained one of baseball’s best.

In 2011 Rivera had an ERA of 1.91 with a strikeout-to-walk ratio (SO/BB) of 7.5. Since turning 40 he has a 1.87 ERA with 5.38 SO/BB.
