While Ichiro Suzuki would like to remain in pinstripes and the New York Yankees would welcome the outfielder back, a deal has not been completed yet. Contrary to earlier reports, Ichiro and the Yankees have not agreed on a one-year deal worth $5 million. The news of a deal not being done yet comes from Sweeny Murti of WFAN.
Ichrio was traded to the Yankees prior to the trade deadline last season. Previously he had played for the Seattle Mariners for a decade.
The now 39-year-old Suzuki appeared in 162 games last season. In each of his seasons in the majors he has appeared in 146 or more games.
While splitting the season between Seattle and New York the Japanese outfielder totaled a .283/.307/.390 line. Ichiro also hit 9 homeruns and stole 29 bases.
