Blues: Bouwmeester gets five-year extension

The St. Louis Blues have signed Jay Bouwmeester to a five-year extension worth $27 million. Bouwmeester’s deal is set to begin with the 2014-2015 season.

St. Louis acquired Bouwmeester at the trade deadline from Calgary for Mark Cundari, the rights to Reto Berra and a conditional 2013 first round and fourth round pick

Bouwmeester, 29, dressed in 14 games for the Blues last season, tying for third on the club in points (7) and plus/minus (+5) while he tied for first in assists (6) and ranked second in time on ice per game (23:24) during the month of April.

The ever durable Bouwmeester has appeared in 635 consecutive games, most in any professional sport.
