A former Cincinnati Bengals cheerleader has won a defamation lawsuit against the gossip website TheDirty.com and has been awarded $338,000.

On the website comments posted saying that Sarah Jones, 28, was promiscuous and had sexually transmitted diseases.

You may remember the name Sarah Jones for being the former teacher who had sexual contact with a student. Jones and the student, Cody York, have since gotten engaged. Jones is currently on probation from the state of Kentucky but has avoided any jail time.

Jones could be heard whispering towards the jury as the verdict was read. The attorney for Jones, Eric Deters, tweeted and posted on Facebook the following: “Today. A wise jury. A fair judge. A brave woman. Changed America for the better. This is historic. I am honored to be part of it.”

In the first trial between Jones and website operator Nik Richie jurors were deadlocked.

The trial is notable because U.S. District Judge William Bertelsman ruled the website was not shielded from liability by the Communications Decency Act of 1996 because Richie had commented on posts about Jones.
