The manager of WWE Superstar The Undertaker Paul Moody as known as Paul Bearer passed away on Tuesday March 5th according to WWE.com. He was 58 years old.

WWE released the following statement:

WWE is saddened to learn of the passing of William Moody, aka Paul Bearer. Moody made his WWE debut in 1991 as the manager of The Undertaker and went on to become a memorable part of WWE over the course of the next 20 years.

Our deepest condolences go out to Moody’s family, friends and fans.

Bearer made his debut in 1991 as the Undertakers manager and had also managed other wrestlers including Kane, Rick Rude, Vader and Mankind in his career. The cause of death was not released but TMZ.com reports that Bearer suffered from “serious health problems over the past decade, including morbid obesity and gallbladder issues.”

The announcement came a day after WWE aired “Old School Monday Night Raw.”

Other WWE superstars joined in offering their condolences:

Triple H tweeted: “Rest in peace, Paul Bearer. You will never be forgotten. There will never be another.”

“I’m so sorry to hear of the passing of Paul Bearer,” Shawn Michaels wrote. “Our prayers go out to him and his family. God bless!”

The Miz on Twitter wrote: “Just found out Paul Bearer died tonight.” “He was always so nice when I talked to him. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.”

Moody was known for carrying around an urn for The Undertaker. He was one of the WWE’s most memorable characters as a funeral director who had a pale face done in makeup with dark features.

Moody’s last appearance was in 2012 when he was locked in a freezer by Kane. WWE will surely not be the same without him.
