Former 49ers defensive coordinator Vic Fangio has joined the Bears in the same role. Fangio had received interest from multiple teams including the Redskins who were said to be making a late push to land him.
Fangio was passed up for the head coaching job for the 49ers when Jim Harbaugh left for Michigan. Given the choice between the Bears and Redskins the 56-year-old went with the Bears. Fangio’s decision probably came down to two factors, talent and ownership. The Bears have more talent while the Redskins secondary is a complete mess of aged players. Playing for a team owned by Daniel Snyder may also have been a factor after Fangio was on a coaching staff with the 49ers that had problems with their front office.
