It is becoming clear that Cam Newton will be under center when the Panthers play against the Browns this weekend.
Newton missed last weekend’s game against the Buccaneers after suffering a back injury – the result of a accident in which he rolled his truck.
Derek Anderson started for the Panthers leading them to a win over the Buccaneers. Anderson has been the quarterback for two of the Panthers five wins this season as he also defeated the Buccaneers in Week 1.
Newton has started 12 games this season but is a far cry from putting up the numbers that made some suggest he was an MVP candidate a year ago. Newton has completed 58.4-percent of his passes for 2812 yards with a 16:11 touchdown to interception ratio. The Panthers are hanging on to slim playoff hopes heading into this one.
