In what appeared to be a no-brainer the Carolina Panthers have exercised the fifth-year club option on Cam Newton’s rookie contract. That mean’s the No. 1 overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft will remain under center for the Panthers for at-least the next two seasons.
Newton will earn $14.67 million in 2015, if the Panthers and Newton are unable to come to an agreement on a long-term extension before then. Newton will be making just $3.378 million in 2014 which makes him one of the NFL’s best values this coming season.

It is hard to believe the Panthers and Newton will not have a new deal worked out prior to the 2015 season. A season ago Newton completed 61.7-percent of his passes for 3,379 yards, 24 touchdowns and 13 interceptions.
