Baker Mayfield may be leaving Texas Tech but he is not leaving the Big 12.
The quarterback is planning to appeal any NCAA transfer rules with the goal of walking onto the Oklahoma Sooners. Oklahoma was one of seven schools that Mayfield asked Texas Tech head coach Kliff Kingsburry to release him to.

A source close to Baker Mayfield says the former Texas Tech QB will enroll at OU in January and he plans to walk onto the football team.

This year, Mayfield threw for 2315 yards, 12 touchdowns and nine interceptions in eight games for the Red Raiders. After he injured his knee in a game against Kansas he lost his starting job to Davis Webb.
