Everett Golson has broken his silence. The former and future quarterback of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish admitted to cheating on a test which earned him a semester banishment from school.

“My heart was set on going back to Notre Dame,” Golson told CNNSI in a video released on Tuesday. “Not necessarily to prove (anything) to anybody. Just doing it for me. I felt like that’s something that I started and I didn’t want to run away from it … I was going to face it.”

Golson has already set his sights on a return to the National Championship game considering last years loss to Alabama “unfinished business.”

Since his time away from Notre Dame, Golson has been working with EFT Sports Performance in Chicago and George Whitfield out of Southern California.

“Just a more polished individual, really,” Golson said. “That goes for on and off the field. A lot of people are moreso focused on me getting on the field. I’m moreso focused on me getting back in the classroom, since that’s where it happened.”
