The Angels placed catcher Logan O’Hoppe on the 10-day injured list prior to Friday’s game.
O’Hoppe is dealing with a left shoulder injury and the Angels have not said when they expect the 23-year-old to return to the team. The team will miss his bat in the lineup as he was off to a strong start slashing .283/.339/.547 with four homers and 13 RBI though his first 16 games this season.
To replace O’Hoppe on the roster the Angels recalled Chad Wallach from Triple-A. Wallach rewarded the Angels for the promotion homering in the third inning of a 2-0 win over the Royals in a game that saw Shohei Ohtani strike out 11.
