Ohtani strikes out 11, Angels defeat Royals

Shohei Ohtani struck out 11 batters on Friday night as the Los Angeles Angels defeated the Kansas City Royals 2-0.

Ohtani was never in trouble as he allowed just two hits to a anemic Royals offense to improve to 3-0 on the season while lowering his ERA to 0.64 though his first five starts. Though 28 innings he allows 38 strike outs, 15 walks, and has allowed just eight hits.

At the plate Ohtani was 1-for-4 in the game though it was catcher Chad Wallach who provided all the offense for the Angels as his home run in the third inning scored Zach Neto for the only two runs in the game.

The next outing for Ohtani on the mound will come against another poor offense in Oakland. For the Angels the win moved them back to .500 (10-10) on the season while the Royals fell to 4-16. The two teams play again on Saturday before wrapping up their series on Sunday.
